A Tale of Three Comets

Introduction

After a long time I decided to do a battle report again. My smartphone is actually broken, so all pictures were taken with my replacement phone, the quality might be lacking a little.

Luckily the battle did not lack in that regard. EM was bringing his Vermin to invade/infect/eat up the lands of my Dread Elves. We played 4500 points with the standard ruleset: Random scenario, random secondary, random pick from the map pack.

This time the armies were quite alike. EM brought a mixed arms type of list, while I did pretty much the same, acting as if we didn’t know which army we’d be facing.

The game took place on 2018-08-14.

2on2: Dread Elves & Saurian Ancients vs. Ogre Khans & Vermin Swarm

Introduction

Once again it was team playing time. After very few matches in the last few weeks and months, my friends and I finally managed to find the time to gather and play a 4000 points per side team game.

For these games we do not assign the teams beforehand, but determine them randomly. This is done to prevent writing one sided specialized lists or anti-lists versus a specific opposing army.

For our clash, EM brought his Vermin Swarm, JB brought his Ogre Khans, SH brought his Saurian Ancients and I lead my Bleak Legion onto the battlefield.

Our ruleset for team games (as there really is none in the rulebook): Every individual army must be valid, but it’s okay to duplicate magic items. Everybody brings their general and possibly BSB and all friendly units benefit from it (so each side may have two generals and two BSBs). Assassin’s may only hide within their own army. Otherwise characters are free to join any friendly unit.

Otherwise we played with the 1.0 rules without deviations.

Dread Elves vs. Vampire Covenant

Introduction

Strangely after all this time the 9th Age is around now, I never faced the undead hordes led by the Vampire Covenant before. This was about to change on 2016-08-24 as EM and I battled it out, for the first time in this combination.

The game size was 2500 points with the standard set of rules and no deviations. We played at my place and I still haven’t got around to pretty up my gaming table, so the terrain will look crappy once more.

9th Age: 2on2 Prerelease Bash

Introduction

In the past month the 9th Age project has evolved, re-evolved, changed, nerfed, buffed and generally re-worked any- and everything related to our beloved game. Now the time of stability with the 1.0 release is just around the corner. With the current rule set 0.99.4 no major changes are expected anymore, so my friends and I got together to battle it out 2on2 style.

Everybody from us brought 1500 points. We randomized the teams shortly before the match to disallow specific anti-builds and to shake things up. For team games we allow to buff friendly units just like the own ones and allow inspiring presence and hold your ground to affect those as well.

Everything else was just as described as it is in the rulebook. We even randomized all terrain features.

9th Age: Dread Elves vs. Infernal Dwarves

Introduction

Another lazy Saturday at home with a fellow 9th Age player coming over 🙂

EM and his Infernal Dwarves packed their stuff (or let the Orc slaves do that) and invaded the Dread Elf territory of a specifically cruel Nabh High Priestess.

2000 points, secondary objectives, D6+4 terrain pieces, 0.11 rules (but ID already used the 0.12 armybook) were the hard and cold facts for this battle on a cold Saturday.

9th Age: Dread Elves vs. Vermin Swarm

Introduction

The year slowly comes to an end, but not my 9th Age games. On Saturday EM and I met for a 2000 points games. It was EMs first game, so list building took some time, but we were playing at my place and had plenty of it. We played with the 0.10.1 rules.

2000 Punkte vs. Skaven (EM)

Vorwort
